Summer Internship at AREVA in Marlborough MA

The Marlborough Massachusetts office of AREVA is looking for a student intern for the summer of 2013. The intern will work for Health Physicists, Nuclear Engineers and Chemical Engineers in the Department of Nuclear and Radiation Engineering. The main projects will be related to Boiling Water Reactors. Much of the work will be with computers. Ability to program is a plus.

Scholarship/Fellowship Requests from DOE-Office of Nuclear Energy

The Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Nuclear Energy (NE) has announced two new Requests for Applications (RFAs) that seek applicants for undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships in nuclear science and engineering fields of study.

Undergraduate scholarships are $5,000 for one year. The maximum award for fellowships is anticipated to be $50,000 a year for three years, with an additional one time $5,000 allotment to fund a minimum 10-week internship at DOE, a DOE national laboratory or other designated facility.

Applications for the Scholarship and Fellowship RFAs are due on May 23, 2013*, and must be submitted using the online submittal application found at <>.  NE intends to notify award recipients by August 2013.

Idaho National Laboratory Thermo-Mechanical Modeler Internship Opportunity

The Department of Energy’s Idaho National Laboratory is soliciting applications for a full-time graduate student.  This project is numerical work focused on thermo-mechanical modeling of monolithic fuel plates.  Familiarity with Finite Element Method (FEM) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) are desired.  Experience with non-linear solid mechanics including large plasticity, creep, swelling and their implementations in ABAQUS are desired.  Student is expected to have strong programming skills.  This is a paid opportunity.
