NASA Langley Research Center Internship Opportunities

The Langley Aerospace Research Student Scholars (LARSS) Program is a paid, unique, and highly competitive research internship program for undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). LARSS is a year-round research internship program with 3 sessions – fall and spring (15 weeks) and summer (10 weeks). It is open to U.S. citizens who are full-time students in community college, undergraduate and graduate students, and a few select high school students. Female students and under-represented minorities, college students with disabilities, military veterans, first-generation college students, and students from economically-disadvantaged backgrounds are encouraged to apply.


* U.S. Citizenship

* Full-time student status at an accredited U.S. college

or university

* Classification as a rising undergraduate junior or

senior, or graduate student (master’s or doctoral level)

by the start of the summer session

* Cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale

Summer Internship Opportunity

The Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board, located in Arlington, VA is an independent agency of the U.S. government that evaluates the scientific and technical validity of the Department of Energy’s (DOE) activities in managing and disposing of spent nuclear fuel (SNF) and high-level radioactive waste (HLW).

The Board will intiate its Summer Internship Program in the summer of 2014. The paid internships will offer a unique opportunity for undergraduates or graduate students relevant to the nuclear fuel cycle and the geologic disposal of radioactive waste. The selected interns will gain practical experience working with Board members and the Board’s senior professional staff in supporting the review of activities related to the management of spent nuclear fuel and high-level radioactive waste.

The specific start and end dates of the internships are negotiable. Compensation will be based upon the candidates’ academic level and relevant experience. Applications should include a resume and the names and contact information for two references. The letter of application should briefly outline the applicants’ fields of interest and their relevance to the Board’s mission. The deadline to apply is December, 1 2013.
