NextEra Energy Resources is one of the largest wholesale generators of electric power and renewable energy from the wind and sun in North America.

Job Duties:

  • Perform routine engineering assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
  • Apply standard engineering practices and techniques to specific engineering situations.
  • Participate in the analysis and evaluation of engineering problems associated with assigned engineering discipline while developing and testing optimum solutions; evaluates data and recognizes discrepancies in results.
  • Prepare and present reports summarizing results of technical evaluations and recommendations.
  • Coordinate engineering activities with other engineering departments and with other company departments.
  • May be required to perform duties and/or assume an assignment outside of normal job duties and requirements to support major outages, as necessary.

This position is represented by Local 2150 IBEW.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required.
  • Professional Engineering license or ability to obtain license desired.
  • Entry level. Comprehension of engineering principles, theory, and their application to power plant systems, components, and structures. Broad based knowledge of assigned engineering specialty. Internship experience preferred.
  • Candidates must satisfy all Company and Nuclear Regulatory Commission security requirements.

Travel to support Fleet objectives and act as a member of the emergency response organization may be part of the requirements of this position

50% PA Position, Kolesar Lab

50% PA position available in the laboratory of Professor (CHS) Jill Kolesar (, Pharmacy Practice Division, School of Pharmacy.  The lab is a clinical pharmacology shared service in the Comprehensive Cancer Center located within UW Hospital.   Graduate students who are interested should have strong analytical chemistry skills.  The PA position is expected to last at least 6 months, and a publication may be a possibility.  A link to the lab is at:  Interested graduate students should contact Professor Kolesar at


REU Fellowship in Sensor Science and Technology

During the Summer of 2016 the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department and the Laboratory for Surface Science and Technology (LASST) at the University of Maine will offer the opportunity for a limited number of highly qualified undergraduate students to participate in research under the guidance of various faculty in the area of sensor science and engineering.  This program is sponsored by the National Science Foundation, and awards the participating student a stipend of $800/week for a period of ten weeks.  Students who live on campus will also be eligible for a subsistence award which will help defray expenses for lodging, and meals.  Six undergraduate credits will be awarded to the student for his/her undergraduate research participation.
